If you want to fight acne or prevent it, there are a few things you can do to help you get rid of acne.
There are various levels of acne and the degree of acne you have can vary a lot.
Some people only experience mild cases of acne and sporadic breakouts, while other people have a more severe form of acne that keeps on persisting no matter what they do.
Acne is basically a blocked pore in your skin where buildup of sebum (oily substance) occurs. This is one way that your body is telling you that something is wrong.
This is one skin problem that everybody tries to avoid.
If you want to fight acne, here are a few things that you should have a look at.
1. Drink Water
Most people do not get enough water and 8-12 glasses per day are recommended. Quite a lot of water to drink.
Water is very effective in fighting acne since it cleanses the body... so drink up.
Coffee and other drinks are not effective replacements for water, since they are partial diuretics that actually causes the body to lose more water.
2. Reduce Stress to fight back acne
There is a direct correlation between stress and acne breakouts.
It is strange that the body can react to stress by producing acne... who would have thought?
If you have stress and don't drink enough water, the effects will be worse.
In effect, stress produces more testosterone (caused by an increase of adrenal androgen) in males as well as females and this results in your face or other body parts becoming more oily.
Stress is a daily part of our lives and learning to control it will go a long way in fighting acne.
3. Look at your diet
Some people blame the outbreak of acne on eating oily and greasy foods, which may or may not be true.
Your diet is one of the natural ways to fight acne.
Chocolate has also been blamed, but research shows that it is actually the sugar and not the cocoa that causes the pimple outbreaks.
Processed foods that contain sugar also contribute to acne outbreaks and it is therefore best to avoid processed foods such as chips, bread, etc.
Dairy products such as cheese and milk can also increase pimple outbreaks.
Studies have shown that a lack of zinc can also cause outbreaks.
4. Reduce Alcohol Consumption
Another surprising cause of acne breakouts is the consumption of alcohol... more specifically; too much of it.
Some people recommend the use of rubbing alcohol to clear up acne, but the alcohol is only applied topically.
Consuming too much alcohol does not directly contribute to acne breakouts, but indirectly it does.
Indirect causes include affecting liver function (the liver removes less toxins from the body), lowering the body's water content and lowering the immune system.
5. Cleanliness
Are you using things like towels and wash cloths that are also used by other family members?
Do you wash your linen regularly?
Avoid using materials that are used by other family members since bacteria that causes acne can be spread through these items.
Summary
If you want to fight acne, increase your water intake, reduce your stress levels, reduce alcohol consumption, look at what you eat and also look at the general cleanliness of items you use.
